Taco Inc · Evenfall
Privacy policy
Last updated 21 September 2026
The short version. Evenfall keeps your journal on your phone. Nothing is uploaded to us, there is no account to use the app, and we never have access to a single word you have written. If you turn on syncing, a copy goes to your own Google Drive and still not to us. We do not sell your information.
What stays on your phone
Evenfall is an offline app. Every line you write, the day it belongs to, its mood colour, whether you starred it, any photo you attach and any time capsule you seal are stored on your device.
All of it lives in Evenfall's own private storage on your device. It is not sent to Taco Inc, and we have no server that could receive it. If you uninstall the app, Android deletes that storage and the contents are gone, so keep a backup, or turn on syncing, if you want to move to another phone.
Syncing between your own devices
Syncing is part of the Pro unlock, it is off until you turn it on, and it never involves us. When you turn it on, Evenfall asks you to sign in to Google and to allow it one narrow permission: to use its own hidden folder in your Google Drive. That permission cannot read, change or even see any other file in your Drive.
Evenfall then keeps one small file in that folder holding your lines, the days they belong to, their mood colours, your stars and your time capsules, so your other devices can pick them up. Photos are not included; they stay on the phone that took them. The folder is invisible in your Drive, costs you no storage, and no other app can open it. Your Google account name is shown in the app so you can see which account you used, and it stays on the device.
Google is the provider of that storage, and Google's terms cover the file while it sits there, in the same way they cover anything else in your Drive. Taco Inc has no server involved and no way to read the file. Turning syncing off stops it, and the app offers to empty the stored copy at the same time; you can also remove Evenfall's access at any time from your Google account's security settings, under your third-party connections.
Backups and sharing, when you ask for them
Evenfall can make a backup file of your journal, share a card from a single day, and produce a printable book of your own writing, but only when you ask it to, and you choose where each one goes. These files go where you send them. Once a file leaves the app it is covered by whatever service you chose to send it to, not by this policy.
Photos
If you attach a photo to a day, Evenfall copies it into its own storage and makes a smaller copy for the home-screen widget. It is read from your gallery or taken with your camera only at the moment you choose it. Evenfall does not look through your photo library, and the copies never leave the device.
What other companies collect
The free version of Evenfall shows a small banner advertisement on some screens, and the app reports anonymous usage and crash information so we can tell what is broken. Those parts are run by Google, and Google collects information through them. This is the only information about you that leaves your phone because of Evenfall.
| Who | What for | What they collect |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdMob | The banner advertisement in the free version | Device information and your device's advertising ID, roughly where you are (from your IP address), and whether an ad was seen or tapped. Used to choose which advertisement to show and to measure it. |
| Google Firebase Analytics | Counting which screens are used, so we know what to improve | Events such as "a widget was added" or "the offer was shown", with a randomly generated app instance ID, plus the device model, language and country. No words you wrote are ever included in an event. |
| Google Firebase Crashlytics | Telling us when the app crashes | What the app was doing when it stopped, the device model and the version of Android. |
| Google Drive | Syncing between your devices, only if you turn it on | Your Google account name, and the sync file itself, which is held in Evenfall's own hidden folder in your Drive. Nothing is sent to us. |
| Google Play Billing | The one-time Pro unlock | Google handles the payment. We never see your card, your name or your address — only whether this device has bought the unlock. |
Google's own privacy policy covers what it does with the above: policies.google.com/privacy. You can read about how Google uses data from apps that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Advertising consent
If you are in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, Evenfall shows you Google's consent form before any advertisement is requested, and your choice is honoured. You can change it later from the privacy options in the app. Buying the Pro unlock removes advertising altogether, and the advertising code is then never started.
Turning the rest off
Android lets you reset or delete your advertising ID for every app at once, under Settings, Privacy, Ads; deleting it stops apps being able to build a profile against it. Uninstalling the app stops all of the above.
Notifications
Evenfall can remind you in the evening to write your line, and tell you when a time capsule opens. They are produced by your phone from what is already stored on it. Nothing is sent anywhere to make them happen, and you can turn them off in the app or in Android's settings.
Children
Evenfall is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, write to us and we will help.
Your rights
Because what you write never reaches us, there is nothing on our side to show you, correct or delete: deleting it on your phone, or uninstalling the app, is complete. If you turned syncing on, the stored copy is in your own Drive and under your control — the app will empty it for you when you turn syncing off, and you can withdraw Evenfall's access from your Google account at any time. For the information Google collects, Google is the controller and its own tools and policy apply.
If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, data protection law gives you rights over your personal information, including the right to complain to a supervisory authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and the new version appears here before the release it applies to.
